How I miss thee...

I just logged into blogger for the first time in... in...who knows how long. I have nothing to say except...I MISS YOU! I don't have time to write and very little time to read...and for sure no time to comment if I do read. I see all these wonderful posts by you wonderful friends in Him and I just want to read, read, read, read! But...I'm busy doing this... and this...and all those other things mommies do.

I really do love and miss you!

Blog Anniversary!

As I finished up The Home Series, this old blog celebrated it’s one year anniversary! I must say, I have enjoyed blogging and a lot of exciting things have happened in the last year.

My baby boy turned one, my baby girl turned three, and the little unknown made his or her presence known. I failed miserably at keeping all my resolutions, but still ran the race. (And some of them needed to go anyway.) I went from Finding Michelle to Losing Her.

By blogging about showers, doctrine, marriage, hugs, recipes, frugal living, a little more theology, and parenting…I have declared myself the Most Random Blog on the Block. It is true. You may never know what random thought I will put out there. I know I have a lot more thoughts to put out there than actually make it.

I had the joy of meeting a blogging friend in person! That was a treat and a great cyber friendship has been formed!

Analyzing my posts, I found it hilarious that some one actually googled “Jesus shaped bacon” and my blog was the link that popped up. The top 5 posts that receive “hits” are:

I must say…I love it. Whether I have 1 reader or 50…it remains an extension of the writing outlet I have used since I was 9 years old. This is what I do for me…and sometimes without ever knowing it God may touch someone by using my words. More than anything I appreciate all the thoughtful comments and emails I get from my readers. Those messages serve as a reminder to me that God works in ways I would never imagine.

P.S. It took me an ETERNITY to link all those posts…so you had better click on at least one! Grrrr!

Sayonara, Adios, Au Revoir, Sampai jumpa…for now.

So, Nate thinks it’s funny that I’m going to blog about not blogging. Whateva, brotha!

If you would recall…HERE…I had a lot to do this year. As I have been complaining about for…eh…the last two months… I have a lot to do and the list keeps growing. In addition to the original “list,” I’ve since added being more “frugal aware” and hoping to get some preschool activities down for Ms. Lily in the upcoming weeks and months.

Let us recall “The List” and see how far we have come (Keep in mind, this was supposed to start in December 2009:

1. Simply, start working out at least 5 out of 7 days. No. I’m still as weak and floppy as on December 1, 2009. I’ve worked out about 3 times in 2 months. Today being one of those.
2. Drink more water. Sort of. I have drank more water, but one glass every two or three days doesn’t suffice.
3. Eat less sugar. …right. This one made me LAUGH OUT LOUD!
4. By April 2010, resume training for my second-degree black belt. Still time, but must get with numero uno or Joe Grosso will kick my bumbino! And then I will throw up and feed the cat-titos. 5. Run the CASA 8K on June 12, 2010. Again, see #1 and #4.
6. Spend at least 6 months out of 2010 not pregnant, nursing, and/or both. Not there yet…looking to start this one in April. However, God may have different plans.
7. Spend more time studying scripture. I have done this but see down below.
8. Find a church family. We may be on our way. We have been attending a church for around 2 months and we are currently involved in an inquirers class that should last the next 3 or 4 months. We’ll see.
9. Pray more as a family. We are doing this, but it still needs some work.

10. Spend at least one night a month with my husband without babies. (Not enough, but a start.) I honestly think we may be doing OK on this one.

Now, to why I am going on a hiatus. I have around two slots of time out of my day everyday. One of those time slots is at 5:00 in the morning…which actually makes those times slots one and not two since I have the most comfortable bed in the world at 5AM. I have some pretty big goals that are going to take up the majority of that time. I plan to do a complete reading of the entire Bible over the next 6 months. During this time frame, I thought it would be a good idea to take a break from blogging and complete the reading as well as get myself ready for Tae Kwon Do and the 8K. I believe I may do an update occasionally on this progress but take a break from reading and commenting. I probably will have those days when I just feel like I must write...it's in our blood isn't it?! I feel these other things are a little more important right now. I know since I am in such high demand all the time, you may need to contact me. Find my email on my blogger profile or check me out on Facebook.

I’ll miss reading your blogs. If you have a REALLY good one, one you need some fiery back up on…email me so I can check it out!

Rejoice

I recently read a blog from MckMama about Blogging Boldly. I really don’t think I have a problem being authentic or blogging boldly. However, she alluded to the fact that we sometimes sugar coat things whether it is our blog or our social networking status. Sometimes we paint a picture of things that is just not reality.

I could not help but think of Blog Boldly when I typed out “Rejoice in all things” on my Facebook status yesterday. Was I really rejoicing in all things? The truth is I felt very discouraged and like I needed to place something aside for a while. I believe we can all get too much on our plates at times. I believe what we can handle is different for different people. Some of us thrive in chaos and some of us thrive when we can place all of our focus in one or two areas.

My mind has been cluttered with domestic issues. I have a wonderful husband and children and I feel that I am not doing my best to present our home as a godly home. My mind is on frugality, modesty, and humility. Humility, Humility, Humility…it’s becoming my new mantra.

My mind has been preoccupied with the blogosphere as well. I am a pretty faithful follower and reader. Blogging can get pretty demanding sometimes. Sometimes you can get caught up in following and not leave time to maintain your own outlet. And when you do have time to maintain, you can find yourself very discouraged, especially when you blog boldly. Some days the support is there and sometimes you feel like the world is against you. I have felt recently that I have not even said anything that should have been controversial yet that is what it became. Let me be bold and say, sometimes I get tired of defending the gospel. Sometimes I am drained from the differences in the Christian faith. Every single word of God is important to me and I find no reason that one thing should be important and one thing shouldn’t. Every word is inspired and should be thought about critically. Every.Thing. Every.Word. Is this blog becoming a burden?

And then there is the whole health thing. I need to exercise. Or do I? I don’t know. As bad as I want to it is just not a priority. All I see is vanity when I think about it.

And then the most important thing is time for God. I need to be in His Word. I need to be studying and growing spiritually. I just feel dead.

So all in all, I need a few more hours. A few more hours that I’m not sweeping, laundering, caring, loving, washing, feeding, cooking, changing, driving, going…

A few more hours to do all of this with the attentiveness that I desire.

But shouldn’t I be rejoicing? I should rejoice in the fact I have found resources to live frugally. I should rejoice in the support I have found on my blog. I should rejoice in my health. I should rejoice in grace. I should rejoice in where God has taken our family. I should rejoice in what God is doing whether I like it or not. Like I said…

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Phillipians 4:4-7
